Liberty Bands

About the Band Program

The Liberty Band Program exists within a family atmosphere, where students always have a home during their free time at school in the band room, where students consistently seek out each other to offer academic help, and where students support each other in their musical endeavors.

The Liberty Band Program has a very supportive and active Band Booster organization.  Without the help of many parents, friends, alumni, and family members, the band program would not have the opportunity to achieve the success that it has enjoyed in recent years. 

Liberty Bands have achieved success at the local, State, and National level.  In addition to regularly receiving “Superior with Distinction,” “Superior,” and “Excellent” ratings at concert band festivals, the Wind Ensemble has performed at the Colorado Music Educator Association Conventions, and performed as a Featured Band at the National Concert Band Festival in 2015, and again in 2017.  Additionally, both the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band have qualified for, and performed at, the Colorado Bandmasters Association State Concert Band Festival. The Wind Ensemble most recently received a “Superior with Distinction” rating at the state festival in 2024.

The Liberty Jazz Bands and Jazz Combos have also received Superior ratings at the nationally renown, Greeley Jazz Festival, with Scarlet Jazz Band consistently asked to perform on the main stage, and many student soloists receiving individual recognition for their improvisation skills. 

The Marching Band has appeared as a finalist in the Colorado Bandmasters Association’s annual State Marching Competition consistently since 2009, has finished in the top three 7 times, and in 2016 won their first-ever State Championship.  Additionally, the Marching Band strives to remain competitive at the National level by frequently participating in Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, most recently in October 2019.
