General Information and FAQ
Meetings
General Band Booster Meetings - The Liberty Band Boosters are a 501(c)(3) organization for all band parents. You are automatically a member just by having a student in band! We meet once per quarter in the LHS band room. All are invited and encouraged to attend. This is a great way to hear what is going on, what is coming up, and meet other parents. See the calendar for up to date dates and times for General Booster Meetings.
Parent Info Meetings - We hold band informational meetings for new families in March or April of each spring semester. Incoming families - be on the lookout for communication from your student’s middle school director for information on these! They will also be posted on the calendar. There is also a meeting on the first night of Mini Camp each year for all marching band families.
Band Fees
Participation in LHS Band/Color Guard or Winter Guard requires each student to financially support our activities through a fee. Band fees pay for various costs of running our program including: music purchasing, transportation costs, meals, uniforms, instrument repair, show design, props, choreography, technology, sound electronics, music arranging and copyrights, competition fees, etc.
The marching band fee is $600. All band fees will be available to pay on individual student accounts through Infinite Campus.
To pay band fees online, log in to Infinite Campus (Parent Portal) HERE and use the Fees tab on the left side of the page. Band fees may also be paid by check in the LHS bookkeeping office. You can also make multiple payments throughout the year towards band fees.
Marching Band Camp
The marching band participates in camps over the summer to prepare for the season. We have a Mini Camp at the beginning of June/end of May, Sectional Camps in June and July, and Band Camp the last two weeks of July.
These camps are important to kicking off a successful marching band season and attendance is required by all marching band students. The students come together as a group working to accomplish a huge goal – learning the music and marching drill that will be their performance in competitions and at halftime shows at home football games. It is hard work - but also a lot of fun!
Marching Band Rehearsals
After Band Camp ends, there are weekly rehearsals after school Tues/Wed/Thurs and Saturday.
Marching Band Competitions
Get ready for Bandtober! Competitions are held on Saturdays, usually begin in early October, and last through Regionals and State (weekday competitions) at the end of October. Held at high schools around the state, they are very fun, very long days! Students usually have an early morning call time and often return around midnight. Check out the band calendar and watch your email for more details about upcoming competitions. Colorado Band Masters is the governing body of band competitions in Colorado. They organize the fall marching season as well as concert band festivals.
Social Events
Did we mention that we love to have fun? In addition to gathering at competitions, we typically get together for several band social events for families - food truck events, potlucks, and end-of-season parties. Stay tuned to email communications and social media for all the upcoming events and details.
Fundraising

Volunteering
Volunteers are a vital part of the LHS band programs - we can't do what we do without every family participating! We need every family to commit to volunteering at least one time throughout the year. Visit the Volunteering page to see detailed information about our volunteer opportunities!
Volunteering is also incredibly fun! When you volunteer, you get to see what your kid(s) are up to, meet other parents, and contribute to the success of our organization. Keep an eye out for emails requesting help and join the fun!
